Keeping Things Tidy When Life is Crazy

at

Have you missed me? Life is chaotic and I’m exhausted, that’s all I got to say.

I have to get something off my chest…

I hate cleaning.

Yep, that’s it, I absolutely despise cleaning. Most days dust, dog hair and clutter are my worst enemy, especially when I have to clean it up, but I suppose that’s life.

I have gathered a few tips that help me get through all the grime and clutter, I hope these can help you as well.

Make a cleaning schedule

Make a schedule of chores to do each day. This will help spread out the duties and make life a little simpler. Here is a sample of my personal schedule…(PDF version if you would like to hold on to it housecleaning )

Monday:

Bathrooms
• Clean showers and toilets
• Clean counters and mirrors
• Mop
When I do bathrooms I spray down the master bathroom with cleaner then go spray down the boys bathroom. I then return to the master to wipe down and rinse off the cleaner followed by completing the boys bathroom.

Tuesday:

Bedrooms
• Change Sheets
• Wipe down furniture

Wednesday:

Kitchen
• Clean out refrigerator and pantry
• Wipe down appliances and counters
• Mop
• Gather garbage and take it to the curb

Thursday:

Living area and play room
• Dust all furniture
• Mop

Friday:

• Ensure all laundry is hung up
• Quick re-wipe down

Saturday:

• Outside chores

Everyday:

Every night I take a laundry basket and gather all the items out of each room that do not belong in that room. The boys are my “runners” and they take the items out of the basket and put them where they belong.

I do laundry EVERYDAY and no longer sort. Color catching sheets are amazing for preventing any bleeding and everything is washed on cold. I try to fold and put cloths up the same day as well but that doesn’t always work.

Vacuuming and mopping

Did you notice I never vacuum on my schedule?

That’s because of bObi my little robotic best friend. bObi pet is seriously the best thing ever. I run him twice a day, once in the morning and once before dinner. Y’all if you don’t have one, GET ONE! I have hardwoods along with rugs and he does an amazing job. bObi pet has a sterilizing UV light and he even has a mopping function. This little guy is a marriage saver and helps me where I slack.

This is so handy! I tend to do light cleaning most days, but then try and blitz the house on a Friday.. I don’t know how it ended up like that, but I sometimes think I should space it out as it’s a bit overwhelming waking up on a Friday and thinking “uh-oh I have to clean for 5 hours!”

I love the bobsweep. I like that something is working while I am working! I like your laundry advice, too.

I think having a schedule is probably the only way I make sure I do everything in my home. I do certain things every single day and that way I don’t feel overwhelmed because they never have a chance to pile up – literally.. LOL

I love your cleaning schedule, it is similar to mine. Doing laundry daily is a must, I agree with you on that. But I don’t have one of those Bobsweep things yet, now I want one. With 5 pets, it surely would be a blessing!

I love the idea of having your kids be runners. Such a good way for them to learn. That vacuum also looks amazing!
